Slay on a budget! Buying a new wardrobe strictly for work can take all your coins especially if you don't have any work clothes to even start off with. If you're at a point where you need to build a wardrobe but don't know where to start, it's a good idea to buy at least the essential clothing items that you can easily switch around to create different looks for another day of the week. Here's 10 business casual clothing items that you will need to start off your work wardrobe: (click the item to be taken to the site)

1. Colored Cardigan.

A colored cardigan is a major key! It is an essential item that can be worn in any season. You can button it up one day and have it un-bottoned another day for a different look. A color like yellow looks great on all skin tones and can easily add some personality to a black and white outfit.

2. White Button-down Blouse

A white button-down blouse is a very versatile item that can be worn with just about any bottom (and cardigan). It's the perfect item to add a little "professionalism" to your look. You can never go wrong with this item!

3. A Patterned Blouse

A nice patterned blouse, especially black and white, is another versatile item that will take your outfit from drab to Fab! Pair your patterned blouse with either a nice skirt or a slacks and you're ready to go!

4. Black Blazer

A black blazer is one of the most versatile items that you can have in your wardrobe. The blazer can be worn with a dress, slacks, skirt and jeans. Also, a blazer can be a cover-up for your "not-so professional" shirts such as a spaghetti strap or back-out shirt. Wear a blazer with your outfit and it will give you an immediate upgrade!

5. A Solid Colored Dress

Turn up the professional yet sexy at work look with a nicely tailored solid colored dress. Adding a belt around the waist can give you that hour-glass, polished look to make you look well put together. A dress is perfect for attending a networking event or dinner date after work as well. You're sure to be a show-stopper!

6. Black Trousers

Another Major Key! You can't go wrong with black trousers. You can wear them with a simple top and you're out the door! You can create different looks with a basic top, patterned blouse, cardigan or blazer.

7. Black Knee Length Skirt

A black skirt is an alternative to wearing black trousers everyday. You can sexy it up with some black pumps and a nice blouse. If you're going for an extra professional look, pair a black blazer with it.

8. Leopard Print Flats

Leopard print shoes are a good pair of flats to wear with solid colored clothing items. They're such a subtle fashion statement. You can dress up these flats with some trousers an a cardigan or dress it down with jeans for "casual Friday." You can never go wrong with leopard print flats.

9. Black Pumps

Black pumps are timeless shoes that are always a perfect fit for the office. Pair these shoes with a skirt, trousers or a dress and you'll be slaying!

10. Tote Bag

Wearing those black pumps all day can get painful FABs! Make sure that you keep a pair of flats in your tote bag! Cognac is a good color to buy for a purse because it works well in any season and goes well with most color schemes.

I hope that you enjoyed my suggestions. There are so many other favorites out there but these are just some essentials that will start you off on the right foot. Building a work wardrobe takes time and money so move at your pace.
